Career Pathways

Career progression is important to us at Loungers and with us creating around 150 new management positions every year we believe in growing our internal talent and supporting you with your career aspirations. We have our career pathways in place which allows you to see each step in the journey and the skills you need to reach the next level.

AM to GM STEP UP PROGRAMME

The purpose of the AM to GM ‘Step Up’ programme is to provide Assistant Managers with some focused training and investment to help them in their journey to become great GMs in the future. The programme lasts 6 months with AMs attending 4 in person sessions. Our 2024 cohort saw 42 promotions from AM to GM.

Was really good to know the ins and outs of being a good leader also (learnt) lots of helpful points that I am already deploying and is impacting my management style.

They (the courses) were all valuable. Having previously completed a certified business management and training course, this further developed my knowledge and understanding of Lounge specifics.

FUTURE OPS DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMME

A programme we have developed for 2024, this is for our Senior General Managers and Head Chefs preparing them for what to expect as an Operations Manager or Operations Chef at Lounge. Part of the course takes place in our Bristol HQ allowing them to get to know the right people at HQ as well as building a network of those at the same stage in their career.

(The course was) all great. Great to self-reflect. And to see that others of a similar level are the same.

The whole programme was super insightful … I did feel like my mindset was changed as well as the way I think about things both on a self-reflection basis and how I can use the tools with teams.

Overall I felt it was very useful the tools given to perform better within my role and stepping up.

SC to HC STEP UP PROGRAMME

The purpose of the Sous Chef to Head Chef ‘Step Up’ programme is to provide great Sous Chefs with some focused training and investment to help them in their journey to become great HCs in the future and hopefully continue progressing their careers within Loungers. The programme in total will take 5 months with Sous Chefs attending 5 half day courses. Following the pilot in 2024 we saw 7 promotions from SC to HC.

In order to support everyone at all stages in their career we also run programmes for our senior leaders in the business.
